It amazes me how something as simple as a model smiling can be viewed in a positive or negative light. There is the view about runway models not smiling because a model smiling will somehow reflect badly on the designers clothes.
Really? I don’t know of any one who has stated “I will not buy that outfit because the model smiled”! Are the buyers from various stores saying we will not buy this line for our stores because the male model smiled at me?
A smile captured in a artistic nude photograph usually gives the viewer a positive feel when they look at the image. I would never do a session without capturing at least one image of the subject smiling – even though they may hate the way they look when smiling.
Any one has a problem looking at the smiling Mona Lisa portrait?
